The Central Market of Thessaloniki (K.A.TH. SA) has been running operations since February of 1975 in its modern-day facilities, located in the 7th km of the Thessaloniki – Athens national Highway within the boundaries of the Municipality of N. Menemeni. In 1998 the Central Market of Thessaloniki was converted from a Public Entity into a Societe Anonyme under the name “CENTRAL MARKET OF THESSALONIKI (K.A.TH.) SA”, the Greek State being its sole shareholder. The facilities of K.A.TH. SA, which cover an area of 247 acres, house 280 shops trading fruits and vegetables and are divided in 4 cores of 70 shops, each one of 60 m2, and 24 shops trading meat each one of 165 m2. About 800 tons of fruits and vegetables are traded through the Fruit and Vegetable Market on a daily basis and they meet all the needs in quality and choice. They are inspected by the competent services, are by and large certified, suitably packaged and bear the correct labeling. Thanks to the works and constructions made in 2007-2008 in the facilities of the Fruit and Vegetable Market, the Central Market has changed a look; It is modernized and is acquiring the necessary infrastructure in order to increase openness and to promote itself in the markets of the Balkans. The Central Administration Building houses among others the office of the Traders Association of Thessaloniki Central Fruit and Vegetable Market. S.E.K.L.TH. S.E.K.L.TH.
